In this recession it feels like all of America is frozen. I don’t know if we are like the Haitians, waiting helplessly between the birthing pains for the next tremor to shake our world, or if we are actually sifting around, gathering our positions to tug hard and lift America to its feet once the time is right. I really hope that we are waiting for something good though.

When we look at economic downturns in the past, huge conglomerates fell and large companies lost their corner pocket monopolies on the market. People were fired, college graduates were left to mill about aimlessly snatching up minimum waged jobs. Still some invented their own means of financial support separate from the degrees they’d earned in school.

But what we have to hope for here is that those creative souls who invented a market for themselves in low times were actually sewing themselves to the fabric of the economic hot air balloon. When the economy finally subsided, room in the once clouded skies had been made by the missing monopolies. Those who had found minimum waged jobs, waiting for their chance to submit their resume’s had actually latched onto sandbags. Yes their situation improved when the economy got better but they were still on the ground while those who had reinvented themselves, recognizing an economic need and filling it, soared to the top. Small time business became big time business.

So you there, recent graduate without a job and without a real direction in life. Don’t give up now. One foot in front of the other you must throw your weight into your passion. When the world is set in motion again you’ll be taller faster and flying into the skies at the top of your game.
