Things are Changing

I met with a couple people Monday night about music and so forth. It looks like I’m going to be writing and recording a whole new CD… When you’re a striving artist you will basically take any recording opportunity you can get. I’m used to recording in garages, peoples homes, and even concert halls. Whatever works, right? It doesn’t matter to me where I record because its all practice. But this new CD is going to be done right. No worries! The tracks will be prestine and the vocals will not sound distant or pitchy (yeah I KNOW! it’s killin me too).

Recording can be so difficult. When I’m performing in front of a live crowd I’m so amped by their presence that I kind of feed off of thir energy. Compared to a live crowd a studio can make an artists work… well… contrived. And nobody wants a fake sounding product, especially  not me! I know that when I say recording some people get a mental image of me sitting in front of a tape recorder and calling it a day. Nope! Syke! LOL that’s cute… and funny, but that’s not how it works. Making a CD is like writing a book. So many components go into the thought process that the end result could come out BRILLIANT or kinda wack…

Now adays technology allows us to cover a ton of mistakes. They’ve got auto correct for anything you mess up vocally. They’ve even got bits of sound to fill in where you might of skipped a strum on the guitar… but to me that doesn’t mean you get to be less of an artist. I think it only kicks up the need for authenticity. And that’s what I’m all about. Real songs written by a real artist who is in music more for the passion than for the money, fame, or fortune. I hope that my new CD is as kickin as I think it will be. Look for it soon. You heard it from me first, faithful followers.
